Kate Wright is an up and coming blues singer in Austin Texas captivating audiences with her deep & earthy voice, mezzo-soprano vocals & electric stage presence. Since her beginnings, both blues and rock have been an important part of her career, though she did not start out like that. Kate started performing at eight years old first as a competitive figure skater and went as far as nationals, though due to an injury, she had to retire early. It was there that she realized that her love of music could be her next passion, and so studied Vocal Performance and Opera at California Baptist University and Austin Lyric Opera. During her years of training, she fell in love with female power houses such as Etta James, Janis Joplin Amy Winehouse, and Whitney Houston, who have helped shape who Kate is today. Seamlessly blending the genres of blues, rock, soul, R&B and jazz, Kate is currently finishing up her debut album and looking forward to sharing her story and her passion of lifting people up through the art of music.
